Chiropractor James Hoyt D.C.

I was skeptical about how chiropractic care could impact the nervous system.

Chiropractor Missouri Valley IA James HoytAs a student, I was skeptical about how chiropractic care could impact the nervous system. Then one day by chance, a classmate brought in a Bassett Hound that was dragging it’s back legs and had lost bladder control. An instructor who was very experienced with adjusting dogs demonstrated how an adjustment might help this Bassett Hound. After lecturing for a few minutes, he adjusted the dog’s lower spine. I was stunned to watch as this dog ran out of the room on all four legs and was moving fine! I never had any questions about what impact chiropractic could have after that.

I decided in high school that I wanted to be a chiropractor because my parents had seen a local doctor of chiropractic and what he did for them seemed fascinating. After doing some research, I decided that I wanted to go into a profession that would allow me to help people without using drugs.

Missouri Valley Chiropractor : Education

After high school I attended the University of Iowa and completed all the requirements to attend chiropractic school. I then went to Northwestern College of Chiropractic in St. Paul, MN. Over the years, I have had interaction with many different medical doctors, osteopathic physicians and other health care providers. The common thread we all have is our education about human anatomy and how it functions. The difference is our interpretation of what to do if human anatomy DYSFUNCTIONS!

I want patients to understand that a chiropractor should be considered a “coach” in helping them achieve their health care goals. A patient needs to take responsibility for their own health. If you don’t want to or don’t feel you have the time to do it now, you will more than likely be forced to take time for a chronic problem down the road.

Missouri Valley Chiropractor : The Personal Side

My wife, Cathy, is a nurse at Missouri Valley Community Hospital. We have twin sons Ben and Mac, another son Nick and a daughter Annemarie. In my spare time I enjoy golf, long walks with our dogs, bicycle rides and spectator sports.

I see too many patients that believe being healthy is purely good luck. Many common health problems could be avoided by adopting some basic good habits like daily posture exercise, eating more nutritious food, getting proper rest, and having regular chiropractic care with acupuncture to help your body function its best.

Thanks for visiting my website. I look forward to meeting you in person and explaining how I may be of service to you. Give my office a call, or email me using the link below and arrange a time to make an appointment.
