What Can You Expect Before, During, and After Treatment?
CONSULTATION
Before your treatment can begin, you will need to attend a comprehensive consultation appointment where we can discuss your symptoms to assess if your health or pain concerns are compatible with this treatment. This consultation may include an examination of the area being treated, along with a discussion about how long you have been experiencing symptoms and what your expectations for treatment might be.
TREATMENT STEP ONE: LOCATE AREA
The first step of your treatment is to locate the area being treated by manually palpating the area. This step ensures that the exact area that needs to be treated is getting the attention it needs and may also help us locate additional areas to help with your pain management.
TREATMENT STEP TWO: APPLY GEL
We will apply a gel to the surface of your skin to help the acoustic waves travel more easily through the body tissues.
TREATMENT STEP THREE: INITIATE SHOCKWAVE DEVICE
The shockwave device used for this treatment is a hand-held tool that generates soundwave energy to send through the body. This portion of the treatment may take five to 10 minutes to complete depending on how many areas need to be treated. This treatment is performed to patient tolerance with very little to no pain. Shockwave Therapy is usually done 5-7 days apart.
TREATMENT STEP FOUR: PERFORM SUMMUS LASER THERAPY OR RED-LIGHT THERAPY
Laser Therapy or Red-Light Therapy is performed on the same areas as was treated with Shockwave to provide the physiologic anti-inflammatory effect which helps with pain control and circulation enhancement. This usually takes 5 to 10 minutes and is painless. This therapy is usually done with Shockwave and then once in between Shockwave Treatments (Twice a week).
LIMITATIONS DURING RECOVERY
There are very few limitations during your immediate recovery time, which will last for 24 to 72 hours after treatment. You are encouraged to abstain from using non-inflammatory medicine and are discouraged from strenuous exercise.
Are You a Good Candidate?
Patients who are experiencing chronic pain, mobility issues, or other health concerns that can be addressed by this treatment are all good candidates. We determine patient eligibility for treatment during the consultation. Most prospective patients are qualified for treatment.
Relieve Your Pain With Shockwave Therapy
You do not have to live with chronic pain or rely on ineffective medications to manage your day-to-day pain. It is time to relieve your pain and win back your mobility with Shockwave Therapy.
Schedule an appointment for a no-obligation consultation with Dr. Hoyt to find out if you are a candidate for this treatment program.
